    • IST College becomes a member of the AACSB International (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business). AACSB is a global network of more than 1400 educational institutions, businesses and organisations dedicated to advancing management education worldwide.
    • Memorandum of Understanding is signed between the Hamburg School of Business Administration (HSBA) and IST College agreeing to work together in the creation, production, marketing, sale and certification of an intensive course on subjects related but not limited to the Maritime sector.
    • A second Memorandum of Understanding is signed between the Hamburg School of Business Administration (HSBA) and IST College. The aim of the cooperation is to enroll bachelor graduates of IST into HSBA consecutive Master’s degree programme in Global Management and Governance including job and Master placement service into one of HSBA’s partner companies.
    • A Collaboration Franchise Agreement is signed between IST and the University of South Wales for the delivery of the postgraduate programmes “MSc Computing and Information Systems” and “MSc Computer Security”
    • A Collaboration Franchise Agreement is signed between IST and the University of Limerick for the delivery of the undergraduate programme “LLB Law Plus (Bachelor of Laws in Law Plus)”
    • A Collaboration Franchise Agreement is signed between IST and the Anglia Ruskin University for the delivery of the undergraduate programmes “BSc (Hons) Adult Nursing” and “BSc (Hons) Midwifery”

    • Α Memorandum of Understanding is signed between the Hellenic Association of Hoteliers and IST focused on Tourism and Training. The Agreement enhances joint activities such as Training, Organisation of Conferences and Seminars, Research and additional actions that links Education with the Industry of Tourism.
    • IST College is approved Edexcel Center so that it may offers certified programmes. Edexcel BTEC by Pearson is the largest organization of certification globally.
    • ΙST College has trained 500 employees from various sectors of the Greek Economy in “Innovation and Entrepreneurship”. This training was under the authority of the Union of Hellenic Chambers of Commerce and Industry
    • The sister institution SBIE has relocated its facilities offering programmes of study in a state of the art building. This unification provides a dynamic learning environment to the students bringing together multi disciplinary educational specializations as well as levels.
    • A Collaboration Franchise Agreement is signed between IST and the French University ESDES Business School of the Catholic University of Lyon (UCLy) for the delivery of the postgraduate programme “Master of International Business Administration” (MIBA).
    • A Collaboration Franchise Agreement is signed between IST and Keele University (U.K) for the delivery of the undergraduate programme “BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy”.

    • A Collaboration Franchise Agreement is signed between IST and University of Limerick for the delivery of the undergraduate programme “BSc in Psychology”
    • A Collaboration Franchise Agreement is signed between IST and London South Bank University for the delivery of a series of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Undergraduate programmes: BSc Business Management, BSc Business Information Technology, BSc Computing, BSc Web Development, BA Accounting and Finance, BA Tourism, Hospitality and Leisure Management. Postgraduate programmes: MBA – Non Executive, MSC Web and Mobile Computing, MSc Internet and Database Systems, MSc Accounting with Finance, MSc International Accounting and Finance, MSc International Tourism and Hospitality Management.
    • A Memorandum of Understanding is signed between IST and Mapua Institute of Technology (Republic of the Philippines) aiming at developing an academic cooperation between the two institutions and focusing on areas of mutual interest involving both students and staff of the above mentioned institutions.
    • Following the successful implementation of the seminar conducted in 2013 for the nursing staff of the Athens Medical Group, IST proceeds in the implementation of a new series of seminars entitled "Training of Assessors of Managers and Heads of Departments" for the staff of all clinical sectors of the Group
    • A Memorandum of Understanding is signed between IST and the Federation University-Australia, aiming at the development of cooperation between the two institutions on issues related to academic exchange, joint research, student visits, etc.
    • A Memorandum of Understanding is signed between IST and Nanjing College of Chemical Technology-NCCT China, aiming at the development of cooperation in areas such as academic exchange, research, development of cultural programmes, summer courses, etc.
    • A Memorandum of Understanding is signed between IST and Shaanxi Academy of China Governance aiming at the development of cooperation in areas such as joint research, cultural exchange, education, etc.

    • Following recently passed Law 4093/2012, IST operates as a multilevel and multifunctional institution offering programmes of study as a College, as a Private Institute of Vocational Training, as a Lifelong Training Centre II, flexible learning programmes, open learning, distance learning and external degrees as well as e-learning programmes. Within this context, IST fosters its dynamic dimension and enters into collaboration with a number of prestigious foreign Universities
    • A new postgraduate programme, MBA (Master in Business Administration) is validated and is offered by IST from October 2013 in collaboration with London South Bank University
    • IST provides the opportunity to study one of the University of London International Programmes. IST is granted approval to provide teaching and training for the University of London International Programmes within its facilities leading to the award from the relevant colleges of the University
    • A Memorandum of Understanding is signed between IST and Esdes School of Management of the Catholic University of Lyon for the delivery of the Programme “Bachelor in International Business”
    • A Memorandum of Understanding is signed between IST and the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Piraeus aiming at improving competition among Greek businesses and the Greek economy in general, thus enhancing the business environment in Greece
    • A Memorandum of Understanding is signed between IST and the Budapest College of Communication of Hungary, aiming at developing an academic cooperation between the two institutions in the fields of Business Administration, Human Resources Management, Marketing and Tourism and placing emphasis on staff development, implementation of European funded programmes and student exchange
    • IST continues its collaboration with the Athens Medical Group and undertakes the implementation of a seminar entitled "Training of Assessors of Managers and Heads of Departments: Evaluation and Development of Personnel with the contribution of Effective Leadership." The seminar was attended by nursing staff
    • A Memorandum of Understanding is signed between IST and Central University of Finance and Economics-CUFE of China aiming at further developing the two institutions’ cooperation in the fields of Administration and Finance, Tourism, Information Technology, Education, Shipping, etc.
    • A Memorandum of Understanding is signed between IST and the British, public University, London South Bank University, for the design and delivery of academic programmes

    • A Memorandum of Understanding is signed between the Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in Athens and IST. The agreement and cooperation between the two entities is based on the friendly relations between the two countries as well as on the common interests of both sides as regards the promotion of academic and cultural issues and the development of human resources in the wider context of globalization. The collaboration places emphasis on tourism, shipping and education while, at the same time, if focuses on issues of research and training
    • A Memorandum of Understanding is signed between IST and Danang University of Economics in Vietnam, aiming at developing an academic cooperation between the two institutions and focusing on student exchange schemes and training of staff
    • IST undertakes the design and implementation of a series of seminars for the staff of Athens Medical Group. The seminar was conducted at the premises of Athens Medical Group
    • Α Memorandum of Understanding is signed between IST and the British, public University, London South Bank University, for the design and delivery of the University’s academic programmes

    • IST organizes an Entrepreneurship and Innovation competition entitled «CRAZY BUSINESS IDEAS» in order to provide young people with the opportunity to bring forth their ideas for a new product or business and transform them into a rigorous business plan

    • The Presidential decree 38/2010 (Government Gazette of the Hellenic Republic Nr. 78, 25 May 2010, Volume A’) is published, according to which all degrees awarded to EU citizens by Universities located in E.U. Countries, are recognised, irrespective of the location of studies
    • The Greek Ministry of Education re-news the “College” license of IST for all its academic programmes offered in collaboration with the University of Hertfordshire (Government Gazette of the Hellenic Republic Nr. 1320, 27 August 2010, Volume B’)
    • A Memorandum of Understanding is signed between IST, University of Hertfordshire and the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry aiming at improving competition among Greek businesses and the Greek economy in general, thus enhancing the business environment in Greece
    • An Interim Board is in place at IST aiming at mapping out the business strategy and the implementation of measures that will contribute to ensuring the quality of services provided and the safeguarding of internal procedures and rules. The Interim Board consists of 9 members out of whom 2 are senior members of the University of Hertfordshire, 4 members from the existing shareholders and three independent members with an international profile, an academic profile and a business profile
    • IST receives re-accreditation and recognition from the British Accreditation Council for Further and Higher Education (BAC) as ‘an institution providing higher education’
    • New Bachelor’s programmes in Dietetics and Physiotherapy are franchised to IST by the University of Hertfordshire

    • IST is recognised by the Greek Ministry of Education as a Private College (Licence Document Nr.76635/D6, Government Gazette of the Hellenic Republic Nr. 1532, 27 July 2009, Volume B’, and Government Gazette of the Hellenic Republic Nr 2138, 5 October 2009, Volume B’)

    • A new training programme for the Academic Staff of IST is developed and offered by the University of Hertfordshire. The programme is called Continuous Professional and Academic Development Programme-CPAD- and is mandatory for academics who wish to teach in UK Universities. It is the first time that academics in Greece have attended such a programme
    • IST, in cooperation with the British Embassy in Greece, the British Council and the Hellenic Colleges Association, hosts the visit of the British Minister of Education, Bill Rammell
    • IST undergoes an on-site Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) Collaborative Provision audit as well as the University of Hertfordshire Institutional Audit

    • IST provides training seminars to the staff of the Private Hospitals “MITERA” and “YGEIA”

    • IST is awarded continuing accreditation by the British Accreditation Council of Further and Higher Education (BAC) as “an independent institution providing higher education”
    • IST successfully undergoes a continuation audit for ISO 9001:2000 and is reaccredited for the “design and implementation of university level courses”
    • IST successfully undergoes a Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) Collaborative Provision audit
    • IST enters into a joint recognition programme agreement with the National Agency Responsible for the Recognition of International Awards (NARIC) to ensure that IST graduates acquire recognised British degrees in Greece

    • The Annual Awards Ceremony takes place, for the first time, in Athens, at “Zappeion Megaron”, with the participation of Professor Tim Wilson, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Hertfordshire and other distinguished representatives of the University
    • An Academic Co-operation Agreement is signed with “Shenyang International Exchange Centre for Education-“S.I.E.C.E.” (China). The Chinese organisation operates under the Education Office in Shenyang, which belongs to the Chinese Ministry of Education

    • IST relocates to its purpose-built ultra-modern 9,500 m² facilities
    • Academic Co-operation Agreements are signed with Malaspina University College (Canada) and Schiller International University (USA)
    • An Academic Co-operation Agreement is signed with the Kiev National University of Trade and Economics (Ukraine)
    • In the context of the entrepreneurial programme Information Society’ Action ‘Electronic Business’, IST undertakes the implementation of the scheme ‘Creation of virtual learning environment for e-learning applications’

    • Appointment of the first Vice-Chancellor of IST, Professor George P. Chiotis, Professor and former Vice – Chancellor of the Athens University of Economics and Business

    • IST receives accreditation and recognition from the British Accreditation Council for Further and Higher Education (BAC) as ‘an institution providing higher education’

    • A scholarship scheme is introduced for the best student in the second year of the Economics Programme. The scholarship is offered in memory of Professor C. Apostolakis, Director of the Department of Economics of IST

    • IST ’s Computer Science Department runs a 345-hour training programme for officers of the Hellenic Navy

    • An Academic Co-operation Agreement is signed with the University of California, Irvine (USA)

    • The MBA (Master’s in Business Administration) is franchised to IST by the University of Hertfordshire
    • IST is awarded the International Quality Certificate ISO 9001 for the “design and implementation of university level courses”
    • The IST Alumni Association is established

    • The Master’s programme in Computer Science (Conversion course) is franchised to IST by the University of Hertfordshire
    • IST successfully undergoes inspection of its academic quality assurance system by the Higher Education Quality Council of Great Britain

    • The first IST/ University of Hertfordshire students graduate and receive their degrees in Saint Alban’s Cathedral together with University of Hertfordshire graduates

    • An Academic Co-operation Agreement is signed (Master Franchise Agreement) between IST and the state University of Hertfordshire (UH) in Great Britain
    • An Academic Co-operation Agreement is signed with Florida Atlantic University (USA)

    • An Academic Co-operation Agreement is signed with Mercer University (USA), Schiller University (USA) and Victoria University (Australia)

    • The charter of IST is approved and published
    • An Academic Co-operation Agreement is signed with the Université de Liége (Belgium)

  • IST was established in 1989, by Dr G. Kastrinakis and Dr Drak. Fountoukakos together with the following team of University Professors:
