In the context of promoting entrepreneurship and linking education with the labor market, IST College organised on Wednesday, May 11th, a talk entitled"Digital and social media: Trends challenges, good and bad practices."

Guest lecturer was Mr. Lefteris Kiriakidis, Account manager of ThinkDigital, the largest Digital Media Network in Southeastern Europe.

This talk was the first of a series of talks under the institution of «Business Voice» for the academic year 2011-2012, an institution aiming at transferring the knowledge and experience of distinguished businessmen to students of IST College.

In the context of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Athens Chamber of Commerce, IST College and the University of Hertfordshire in order to improve competitiveness among Greek businesses and the Greek economy in general, a series of training seminars has been designed aiming at contributing to the professional development of executives, via the acquisition of specialized knowledge, as well as skills directly linked to the modern needs of the market.The first round of seminars was successfully conducted in the period May - June 2011, with the participation of enterprises from different industry sectors.

IST College has scheduled a new round of talks on mental health for the first semester of the 2011-2012 academic year in collaboration with its department of Psychology. The seminars will take place at IST campus and may appeal equally to students, mental health professionals and the general public.

The lecturers are experienced professionals from both academic and applied settings. The duration of the talks ranges from 50 to 90 minutes. At the end of each talk attendants will have the opportunity to discuss or ask questions.

The MSc in Health Psychology is the only postgraduate program in the field of health that:

-Includes internship and places students in institutions and hospitals in order to prepare their thesis and gain practical experience.

-Offers expertise in a innovative and flexible field increasing job options in the health sector.

-Emphasizes on the practical application of psychology and how it can contribute to other health areas such as medicine, dietetics, physiotherapy, sports etc.

-Teaches the use of special techniques that help both individuals with diseases and their main caretakers.

-Concentrates on the prevention and disease management and therefore promotes health by providing a deep understanding of the behavior of individuals.

-Focuses on principles of behavioral change and maintenance of the new behavior of patients, models already applied in the private sector and which inevitably will be adopted soon by the public sector.

-Informs new health professionals of the need for cooperation between different specializations in order to achieve improvement in both the quality of patients’ life and that of health services.

Knowing the diverse needs of its members, TESOL Greece organizes a mini-convention at IST COLLEGE on Sunday, November 6, 2011. During this event, seven talks will take place divided thematically into four Special Interest Groups, namely MM/CALL (Multimedia/ Computer Assisted Language Learning), EAP/ESP (English for Academic Purposes/ English for Specific Purposes), Drama/Literature and Young Learners. During the Big SIG Day, those present will have the opportunity to attend talks given by notable professionals in the field of ELT, broaden their horizons and exchange ideas and experiences with colleagues from Greece and abroad.

Το IST College, σε μία ανοιχτή προς το κοινό εκδήλωση βράβευσε την Πέμπτη, 6 Οκτωβρίου 2011 τις 3 επικρατέστερες ιδέες του διαγωνισμού Επιχειρηματικότητας και Καινοτομίας “Crazy Business Ideas” που διοργάνωσε το Κολλέγιο με στόχο να παροτρύνει νέους ανθρώπους από όλη την Ελλάδα να φέρουν στην επιφάνεια νέες, δημιουργικές, καινοτόμες ιδέες.

Στο πλαίσιο του διαγωνισμού, ζητήθηκε από τους ενδιαφερόμενους να στείλουν τις ιδέες τους για ένα νέο προϊόν ή επιχείρηση, καθώς και να μετουσιώσουν την ιδέα τους σε επιχειρηματική πράξη συντάσσοντας ένα επιχειρηματικό πλάνο. Η κατάθεση των ιδεών έγινε μέσω της ειδικά σχεδιασμένης για το συγκεκριμένο σκοπό ιστοσελίδας www.crazybusinessideas.gr όπου οι συμμετέχοντες κλήθηκαν να υποβάλλουν ένα μικρό κείμενο με την περιγραφή της ιδέας τους. Στη συνέχεια και έπειτα από ψηφοφορία του κοινού, οι 50 υποψήφιοι που συγκέντρωσαν τις περισσότερες ψήφους «προκρίθηκαν» στην επόμενη φάση του διαγωνισμού, όπου και σχεδίασαν ένα επιχειρηματικό πλάνο. Η καινοτομία, η ανάλυση και ποιότητα του επιχειρηματικού πλάνου, καθώς και ο βαθμός υλοποίησης της ιδέας αποτέλεσαν τα κριτήρια αξιολόγησης της κριτικής επιτροπής που απαρτίζεται από καταξιωμένους ακαδημαϊκούς και επιχειρηματίες:
