Greetings from the Vice Chancellor of IST College

Together with our selected academic and administrative staff, as Vice-Chancellor of IST College and having the responsibility of designing, implementing and monitoring the academic operation of the institution, I would like to welcome you and assure you that the programmes we offer will be a guarantee for your professional employment and social recognition.

Today, more than ever before, it is deemed imperative that universities and enterprises need to work on an integrated and collaborative basis.

Educational institutions constitute a learning fountain, as well as a pool of ideas, so they ought to adopt a new educational philosophy, having as a cornerstone contemporary and lifelong learning, aiming at cultivating an entrepreneurial mentality, promoting innovation and focusing on developing new ways of learning, teaching, and research, as well as programmes in tune with the needs of the market.

In Great Britain, a new, innovative model of studies, called business facing is becoming very popular; the University of Hertfordshire, being the pioneer. Professors and students work closely together and exchange ideas and opinions with professionals of all fields. The University of Hertfordshire has in 2010 won the prestigious Times higher Education “Entrepreneurial University of the year” award.

IST College, exploiting its long-term collaboration with the University of Hertfordshire, applies this new model of studies, aiming at bringing the world of business closer to students and promoting entrepreneurship.

As such, IST College offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes of the University of Hertfordshire in fields of high demand in Greece and abroad, having incorporated necessary changes to adapt all programmes to the needs of the Greek market.

The principles that have become the foundations of our academic organisation and operation are the following:

  • To succeed in IST College goal and in the vision we all hold, which is to enhance the contemporary role of academic education in our country, in a world of globalisation and make continuous progress in the fields of science, technology, economy and humanities.
  • To provide high-quality academic programmes which satisfy the current and future needs and trends of society both in the domestic and international market.
  • To apply academic teaching and research methodology which provide the foundations for thorough knowledge and critical thinking skills and increase the students' ability to respond to a demanding scientific world.
  • To co-operate closely with businesses and organisations in order to ensure realistic implementation of modern theoretical knowledge, work experience and successful employment prospects for our students.
  • To provide interdisciplinary and spherical knowledge to our students and give them the opportunity to develop their character and personality, in order to be able to undertake successfully any entrepreneurial or social responsibility assigned.

Beside these principles, we take special pride in our well-organised academic system, our compliance with internationally accredited educational standards, our co-operation with the University of Hertfordshire, our academic who share their valuable knowledge and experience and our young specialists, all holders of doctorates and familiar with the latest scientific and technological developments.

With our state of the art facilities we are entering a new period of academic expansion and modernisation, which offers new additional opportunities for studies and improved employment prospects. There are special programmes for international students and business executives from neighbouring and other countries, research and co-operation programmes with international organisations and institutions that justify the recognition that IST College enjoys and the choice you will make.

We would be delighted to welcome you to our programmes.

Professor George P. Chiotis, BA, PhD.
