With great success and large participation the "Open Diplomacy Days" Athens Summit took place on 5 and 6 March 2016 hosted at the IST College facilities. The Organizer of the two-day Summit was the Greek branch of the NGO, "Association of International Relations Students" (AIRS). The Summit, was a milestone in the activities of the Greek branch of the NGO. The participants were students and graduates of International Studies, Political Sciences and International Business from various institutions. The Summit focused on, the art of diplomacy and consisted of three main pillars:
• Conference for the role of economic diplomacy and the role of diplomacy in resolving the Greek economic crisis
• Simulation concerning a virtual diplomatic mission where participants played the role of ambassadors, diplomats and members of international organizations
• Networking meetings with foreign embassies’ executives and international organizations’ representatives that are located in Greece.
The event was supported by many foreign diplomatic missions and embassies. Among the speakers were also H.E. the Ambassador of Italy Mr Luigi Marras, H.E. the Ambassador of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia Mr Darko Angelov, H.E. the Ambassador of the Czech Republic Mr Jan Bondy, H.E. the Ambassador of Montenegro Mr Petar Popovits, Ms Annika Betancourt Economic Officer of the Embassy of the United States of America, and the president of Liberand Mr Vit Jedlicka.
