IST College was duly represented at the 35rd TESOL Greece annual international convention on March 15 – 16, 2014

TESOL Greece (Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages) is an affiliate of TESOL Inc., USA, a global educators association with 98 affiliates which operate as independent organizations worldwide (41 in the United States and 57 residing throughout Asia, the Pacific, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa) with a total membership of more than 47,000 professionals worldwide.

The theme of the convention was "Learning in the 21st Century" gathering presenters from different parts of Greece and from abroad and the professional presentations covered a wide range of topics from applied linguistics, TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) at primary, secondary and tertiary level, Learning Technologies, teaching learners with dyslexia and other learning difficulties and teaching English through literature.

With plenary presentations by Dr. Eleni Livanou, Mr. Michael Robbs, Dr. Herbert Puchta, Mr. Bob Obee and Mr. David Bradshaw (in order of appearance) with more than 530 participants, the Convention was praised for the quality and the variety of the topics and events offered to its members. IST College was represented by the teaching staff of the ELCEL Department and of the English Language Programme who are members of TESOL Greece: Dr. Penny Masoura (TG Chair), Maria Marka (TG Vice-Chair), Ioanna Georgakopoulou (TG Chair of Oversight Committee), Sophia Panaghis (former TG Board member and former TG Newsletter editor), Maroussa Pavli (former TG Board member), Vicky Asiki and Eleni Spapi.

It is worth noting that ELCEL and ELP members of staff actively participate in Conventions and teacher development seminars thus proving IST College's commitment to its staff's continuous professional development and its due representation in various professional organizations of international prestige. IST College was also one of the sponsors of the 35th Convention as proven by the T-shirts worn by IB and University of Athens students who offered their services as volunteers.

With Dr. Penny Masoura stepping down as TG chair after the end of her tenure, IST College continues to be duly represented by Ms. Maria Makra who was elected chair and Ms. Ioanna Georgakopoulou who was elected treasurer of Tesol Greece.
