On Sunday, November 9th 2014, TESOL-Greece held its annual BIG SIG day at the premises of our College. The basic characteristic of this conference is that teachers of English can participate in four (4) concurrent specialized sessions related either to Young Learners, Drama & Literature, Learning Technologies or EAP/ESP.
By doing so, they get informed about innovations and updates in the ELP world and, therefore, enhance their knowledge regarding their teaching practices and their students’ needs.
The plenary speaker, Ms. Suzanne Antonaros, talked about the multiplicity of roles a teacher in blended, project based learning should play. Her presentation was highly attended and offered an insight to new information concerning the nature of teaching.
The rest of the eight (8) speakers represented high class organisations associated with foreign language teaching, i.e. The British Council, private institutions, i.e. EllinoGermaniki Agogi or theatre associations, i.e. Theatre in Education.
IST College, through the ceaseless efforts of Dr. Penny Masoura (former TESOL-Greece Chair) and the help received by Mr. Minadakis (CEO of IST College), contributed immensely to the success of the conference and thus assisted in the ongoing professional development of EFL teachers.
IST College was represented by Dr. Penny Masoura, Ms. Vicky Asiki, Ms. Ioanna Georgakopoulou (TESOL-Greece Treasurer), Ms. Maria Makra (TESOL-Greece Chair) and Ms. Maroussa Pavli (EAP/ESP Co-ordinator).
